Reliability of Detection Algorithms

Steganalysis under real world conditions: Multiple Encoders


Any non-steganographic MP3 file should pass the stego test negative.

 


Most detection algorithms indicate steganographic data produced by their respective encoders quite reliably ...

 


... but produce false alarms because they misclassify output of other encoding programs.

 


The different colour symbolises a second implementation of the format specification. It may produce different bottom line statistics in the output files.

In brief: 

Most detection algorithms work fine if they are used on output of their dedicated encoders, but produce false positives on external files.
