Encoding: Robustness

Fault-Tolerance

  • Robustness is not only important to protect digital watermarks against modifying attacks but may also be necessary to transfer covered messages over disturbed channels. Examples: noisy radio links, lossy compression channels, network packet loss .
  • Encoding with redundancy is the preferred means to achieve robustness. As redundancy offers valuable information to an attacker, it also has to be hidden.

  •

    In brief:

Focus on robustness properties also for non-watermarking information hiding.
